The Book Whisperer Strikes Again. 4

35767971The Book Whisperer, a.k.a. Donalyn Miller, has completed yet another incredible year with her fantastic readers.  Her 92 sixth grade students read 5,240 books this year, which is an average 57 books per reader!  You can follow her blog here.  And teachers and parents, if you haven’t read “The Book Whisperer” you need to do so.

Heavy rain moved into the Portland (Pourland) area last night, but it’s clear this morning.  It doesn’t make much of a difference to me, because I’m in my office writing.

The downstairs remodel is coming to a slow end.  I’ll include some photos here when everything is back in place.  It will be great to have nothing more to do to the house…  Ha!  There are always things to do.  But it will be nice not to be “doing” anything to the house over the summer.

And the grand experiment continues…working on more than one book at a time.  So far, I’ve restricted myself  to working one book on one day, not switching between books on any given day.  Two are started and I may start a third today or tomorrow.  Again, don’t do this at home!  It’s dangerous territory.

You are too funny. I brought 3 of your books home to read over the summer so I can be prepared for my new group of 6th graders. I am challenging myself to read 10 books over the next 8 weeks. Just got out of school today for the summer. Heading to Florida for a little vacation and some good reading. Looking forward to whatever you are writing.

Thank you for mentioning my recent blog post. My students were thrilled to add Peak to their list of top favorites this year. Cryptid Hunters, Tentacles, and IQ were also popular.

Hi Donalyn, I always look forward to your student’s book tally, whether I’m on the list of not. What you and they accomplish ever year is a beautiful thing.
