Who wants to be a librarian?

I’m on my way to Illinois today to visit schools near Chicago. I’ll be picked up at the airport by my good friend Kathy Hempel who has the coolest ‘how I became a librarian stories’ of all time. A few years ago Kathy was a library aid. She wanted to go to school and get her Master’s degree, but of course this costs money. The first time she was ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ she walked away with nothing. They invited her back. The second time she was on the show she walked away with $250,000! She used her prize to go back to school and get her library degree. She is now a librarian in at Station Middle School in Barrington, IL. Who wanted to be a librarian? Kathy Hempel wanted to be a librarian. I can’t think of a better use for the money.
