At least my part…for now…
I finished the draft yesterday on Easter Sunday. This is not the first time I’ve finished a book on Easter. I was in Perry Georgia a couple of years ago on Easter and finished a novel in an old hotel there. In fact, it might have been I,Q Book One: Independence Hall. I guess I’m getting old because I can’t remember what novel it was. Either that or I’m writing too many books on the road…
Speaking of which. I did not think it would take two months to wrap up I,Q2, but this was certainly affected by being on the road. Instead of getting 6 or 7 hours in a day. I was only able to manage 2 or 3 hours a day, and that’s only if my schedule allowed.
I flew to North Carolina this morning. On the airplane I started to give the manuscript a final read and a final polish. It was a long flight, but I’m still not done with the polish. I’m in my hotel room finishing up so I can send it off tonight to my publisher, editor, and a few select readers.
What you’re probably wondering, or screaming (if my email about I,Q2 is any indication) is when will the book be out!!! Here’s the process, and again, this is really a collapsed publishing schedule. I have another novel finished at a different publisher and it will not be out for at least 12 months. Sleeping Bear, the publisher of the I,Q Series is going to do this a bit differently.
I will email it in late tonight. The book will then have to be edited, copy edited, designed, printed, bound, advertised, marketed, and distributed. None of which I have any control over. As soon as I have a publication date, you will have a publication date.
I know many of you have been waiting a long time. We’re almost there.
