Texas Origami 5

Beautiful four hour drive yesterday afternoon from Copperas Cove to Nacogdoches.

I’ve spent a lot of time in Texas, but not in this area. I don’t associate trees with the Lone Star State, but there are plenty along Hwy 7 when you get to Davy Crockett National Forest. It reminded me of Oregon.

Spent today with Sonja Schulz at Mike Moses Middle School. Wonderful libraian, wonderful school, great students

Below are just a few of the origami cranes made out of McDonald cheese burger wrappers. (Some of them must have come from HUGE cheese burgers!)

Megan, one of students started the trend in honor of my novel I,Q. If you’ve read the book you’ll know what they mean.

My friends Ashland and Kiara helped me make the giant crane. The crane’s name is Mac as in “big” Mac. đŸ™‚

    Mr. Smith,

My daughter Megan (Mike Moses Middle School) has gotten me to start reading your book. Thanks for taking time to meet with the students in our district and surrounding districts.

I’m only a 1/4 way into IQ — and love it. After working all day and reading technical journals — it’s refreshing to come home and read a relaxing — yet exciting story.

    Thanks,
    Kent
